Events
We run regular events for parent carers, offering a friendly space to connect, chat, ask questions, and access peer support. Whether it’s a Coffee and Chat, Breakfast Club, or Lunch Club, there’s always a warm welcome waiting.
We also gather your feedback at these sessions to help shape and improve local services — your voice does make a difference.
Many events feature guest practitioners from services like education, health, and social care, giving you the chance to hear updates, ask questions, and share your experiences directly.

Our Regular Events
We know joining an event for the first time can feel a bit overwhelming, but we’re here to make it easy and welcoming.
All our sessions are run by parent carers, for parent carers, so you’ll be among people who truly understand the SEND journey.
Here’s what we offer:
Coffee and Chat – Relaxed drop-ins for a cuppa, conversation, and support.
Breakfast & Lunch Clubs – Friendly sit-down sessions to connect over food and share experiences.
Our events are also a chance for you to share feedback, which we use to help improve local services. We regularly shape future sessions based on what our members ask for — so if you have ideas, we’d love to hear them!

Pre-Event Information & Booking
All our events are now booked through Ticket Tailor. While we continue to promote upcoming sessions on Facebook and in local SEND groups, the best place to find up-to-date event listings is on the What’s On page of our website.
Please note that some events require you to be a member to attend, due to funding restrictions. Make sure to check the individual event details before booking to see if membership is required.
Once you've booked, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the event details. If you need to cancel, you can use the self-service cancellation link at the bottom of that email. You’ll also find additional cancellation instructions at the bottom of this page.
Although our Coffee and Chat sessions are still free and run on a drop-in basis, booking is now required. These events are now held in outreach venues, so booking helps us ensure the space can accommodate everyone comfortably. It’s simply to give us an idea of numbers — you’re still welcome to come and go as suits you during the session.
What to Expect at Our Events
We understand that attending a new event can sometimes feel daunting, and you're not alone. If you’d feel more comfortable being met outside the venue, please let us know in advance. A member of our team will be happy to meet you and walk in together. Many attendees find this helps them feel more at ease.
At our Breakfast and Lunch Clubs, we have a dedicated, welcoming area set up for the session. At all events, a friendly team member will greet you, help you sign in using our electronic register, and give you a feedback form.
Your voice truly matters. One of Hull Parent Carer Forum’s main roles is to collect feedback from families and share it with services to help improve support across the city. Once you've completed your form, please hand it to a team member, and as a thank you, your breakfast or lunch will be available at a subsidised cost for that session.
Many of our members stay afterwards to enjoy a relaxed chat, catch up with friends, and connect with others who understand. Our team is always available to answer questions or signpost you to local services and support.
Children at Our Events
Children are very welcome to attend our Breakfast Club, Lunch Club, and Coffee and Chat sessions. However, they remain the responsibility of their parent carer at all times.
To help keep everyone safe, we kindly ask that:
Parents and guardians actively supervise their children, young people, or any vulnerable adults in their care throughout the event.
Hot drinks served during Coffee and Chat will be provided with lids when children are present. For safety, we ask all attendees to use the lids provided.
While our team will ensure a safe environment, your supervision is essential to creating a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Who might be there?
Meet with Practitioners
We regularly invite professionals from a wide range of services to attend our events, giving families the opportunity to connect directly with the people who support them. We always advertise in advance which practitioners will be attending and which organisation or service they represent, so you can make an informed decision about whether you'd like to join us.
Previous attendees have included headteachers from alternative provisions, the Oral Health team, Social Care, the SEND team from the Local Authority, and representatives from Healthwatch, among others.
These sessions provide a valuable two-way opportunity: practitioners can share updates and important information about their services, while families have the chance to ask questions, give feedback, and help shape improvements.
