Reports

Our Impact

Our reports bring together the experiences, views and feedback shared with us by parent carers and families across Hull.

Through surveys, engagement activities and our wider work with families, we gather lived experience to build an evidence base of what is working well, where challenges remain and what matters most to local SEND families.

We use this evidence to represent parent carers’ voices in our strategic work with local partners and decision-makers, helping to inform discussions, priorities and the development of SEND services across Hull.

Explore our reports below to find out what families have told us and the issues and experiences shaping our work.

Hull’s Supportive Attendance Campaign  Report

Purpose of this Report

Hull Parent Carer Forum has prepared this report to support the development of Hull City Council's Supportive Attendance Campaign. It brings together the voices and experiences of parent carers of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing evidence of both the barriers families face and the approaches that help children access education successfully.

The report is based on evidence gathered through:

● Hull Parent Carer Forum's Annual Survey, completed by 535 parent carers.

● Ongoing engagement with families through meetings, events and social media.

● Individual parent case studies illustrating lived experience.

● Feedback received through the Forum's wider engagement activities.

Annual Survey Report 2025

Thank you to every parent carer who took the time to share their experiences. This report brings together what families told us about education, health, social care and wider SEND support across Hull.

The findings highlight what is working well, where improvements are needed, and the priorities that matter most to families. We will use this evidence to influence local services, inform strategic discussions and ensure the voices of parent carers continue to shape future SEND developments.

SEND Alliance Report

June 2026

In February, we hosted a SEND Alliance meeting that brought together our Voluntary and Community partners, professionals and organisations that support children and young people and/or their families. The meeting aimed to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing young people with SEND as they move towards post-16 education and adulthood.

Our report captures the key themes, discussions and recommendations from the day and highlights the importance of working together to improve post-16 experiences and outcomes for young people and their families.
