Director, Forum Steering Group & Rep
Laura is a proud SEND mum of two awesome children. She had learned a lot on her SEND journey which has led her to becoming a steering group member of the Hull Parent Carer Forum, sharing that knowledge with others.
Laura previously worked within an alternative provision as a governor and volunteered in a sector which focused on disabilities.
She is passionate about reasonable adjustments prior to assessment and diagnosis. By thinking outside the box for everyone, with a child centred approach to create reasonable adjustments, this will aid inclusion.

Jenny has four amazing children who are all neurodivergent, she herself is autistic, dyslexia and dyspraxia. Living in a very Neurospicy household has given her a unique view of the disability world and wanting to make it better for all.
Her SEND journey has spanned almost two decades which led Jenny to joining the Hull Parent Carer Forum as a member, then progressing to being a Steering Group member. Aged 16, she began working with adults with disabilities which inspired a passion of disiblity rights at a early age.
Jenny has a degree in social behaviour studies and has a keen interest in disibility rights, wanting to empower other SEND parents along their journey.

Tasha has three sons with a variety of conditions including autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, hyper mobility, dyspraxia, tics and mental health difficulties. She has developed a lot of knowledge through her families lived experience which helps when speaking to members.
Tasha joined the Hull Parent Carer Forum initially as a member before progressing to a parent representative, then became a Steering Group member. She previously worked as an early years practitioner in a mainstream provision for a child with PMLD and as a teaching assistant.
Tasha is passionate about debunking myths and improving knowledge on the different presentation of some disabilities such as autism and ADHD. Other interests in the field include understanding why children struggle to attend school as often it is 'Can't attend', not 'won't attend'.

Vanessa is a proud mum of three, with a variety of needs. Her SEND journey has been long and with this she has gained a lot of knowledge, especially surrounding SEND legislation.
Vanessa is part of the Steering Group team, using her lived experience to help members. She worked previously in an early years outreach role which she really enjoyed.
Vanessa is also a qualified independent advocate and has a goal of specialising in care act advocacy.
Steering Group Member & Parent Representative
Emma is a mum and parent carer of two fantastic girls. She began her SEND journey a decade ago. In addition, she has recently completed her undergraduate psychology degree.
Emma has had a varied rollercoaster SEND journey and joined the Hull Parent Carer Forum to use what she has learned along the way to help others navigate the system which can be confusing and daunting at times.
Emma is passionate about raising awareness, acceptance and inclusion surrounding autism. Specific areas of interest include hidden presentation such as autism in girls and masking. Linking to this, she also has a keen interest in anxiety in autistic children.
Parent Representative
Jo is a mum and foster mum to many children, some of which are now young adults. She started her SEND journey with her twins.
Jo joined the Hull Parent Carer Forum over 10 years ago and in recent years became a Parent Representative. She has previously worked for the Youth Offending team, childrens residential care, foster care and for adult forensic psychiatry hospital.
Jo has three core values, honour, dignity and respect that guide her passion, which is creating a person centred approach. She shares her values and knowledge with members to help them get the best for their childs needs.

Hi, I'm Lauren. My two children are both diagnosed autistic and have ADHD. I like to celebrate their uniqueness and their different talents. I am always looking at strategies to support their communication. I am also dyslexic and have ADHD.
My background is working in Early Years settings and I have a degree in the children’s sector.
Before I got support and joined the forum I felt lost as a SEN parent. I don’t want anybody else to go through what I went through. This is why I decided to volunteer for the HPCF to give back to the community and to support others through their SEN journey
