Education other than at/in a school (EOTAS)
The Local Authority have the power to arrange for any special educational provision that is deemed necessary to be made that meets the specific needs of a pupil who cannot attend a mainstream or specialist setting.

EOTAS is a special education package that can be specified in an EHCP which remains the legal responsibility of the local authority (LA) to provide. It is different to elective home education (EHE), in which parents become responsible for funding or supporting the child's needs. More information about EHE can be found here
An EOTAS package will only be specified if the LA determine with evidence that a child or young person's special educational needs (SEN) cannot be met in either a mainstream or special school setting and would therefore benefit from receiving their SEN provision through an EOTAS package.
