Carers Information: A Guide for Parent Carers

Support for Parent Carers

Because being a carer is more than parenting

If you’re caring for a child with a disability, medical needs, or additional needs, you’re not just parenting- you’re also a carer. That means you may be entitled to practical support, emotional help, financial assistance, and legal rights - but many carers don’t even know what’s available. This page is here to change that.

Am I a Carer? What Are My Rights?

You’re a carer if you regularly look after someone who couldn’t manage without you, even if they’re your child. As a carer, it’s good to understand what you might be entitled to:

  • A Carer’s Assessment
  • Flexible Working Options (if employed)
  • Benefits & Financial Support
