Community Film Screening: Unauthorised Absence + Peer Support & Pizza

Does your child or teenager struggle with school attendance? You are not alone.

Join us on Tuesday 10th November for an in-person community screening of the powerful, BIFA-longlisted short film ‘Unauthorised Absence’ on the day of its official public release.

School-induced distress and attendance barriers can feel deeply isolating. We are bringing local parent carers together in a safe, welcoming, and relaxed environment to watch the film, connect with others walking a similar path, share experiences, and access helpful information and signposting.

Event Details:

Date: Tuesday 10th November
Time: 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Venue: Holderness House, Hull
Food & Drink: Free pizza and refreshments provided

What to Expect:

The Film: A collective viewing of Unauthorised Absence, exploring the real challenges families face when a child struggles to attend school.

Safe Space & Peer Support: Connect with other parents who understand the emotional impact of attendance barriers.
Guidance & Signposting: Helpful resources, local forum support, and direction to national guidance
Relaxed Atmosphere: Come as you are, take breaks whenever you need to, and chat at your own pace.
